Haiti Earthquake Relief

On the morning of August 14th, 2021 a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the country of Haiti causing many structures to collapse. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 5 miles away from the town of Petit Trou De Nippes, located in the southwest peninsula of the country. The earthquake was stronger than the January 2010 earthquake that measured as a 7.0 magnitude earthquake and killed approximately 300,000 people. On Sunday, Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency had reported 1,297 deaths. To make matters worse, Tropical Storm Grace poured heavy amounts of rain with strong winds creating challenges in helping survivors and locating the missing.

We are currently assessing the need of our resources in Haiti and for a possible deployment. A volunteer team is currently deploying and providing us with the information we need to provide effective help to the people of Haiti.

What we do know is that there is shortage of medical supplies, with the effects of an earthquake, we know that the demand of supplies related to injuries will run high. We will be sending relief supplies to partnering NGO’s based out of Haiti. Please see the list below for items in need. If you are in the New York City or Long Island area and can donate these supplies, please contact us via email info@black6project.org for a drop off location.

The Black 6 Project is currently fundraising to help provide aid to those affected by this earthquake. On top of the medical supplies needed, we are in need of funding to cover the costs of the supplies as well as cover the costs of travel to send our disaster relief teams to where their skills are needed in Haiti. Please help and share this page and our fundraising goal of $3000 to help us achieve our mission.

We are asking for volunteers to help us organize and sort through our supplies so we can allocate them for Haiti. If you are free on August 22nd, 2021, and are in the NYC and Long Island area, please join us. More info here.

Black 6 Coffee Trading Co. will also be roasting a Haitian grown coffee by Singing Rooster. Proceeds will go towards our Haiti earthquake relief efforts. We will update this page as events occur to keep those informed of our work in Haiti.
